MIND TRAILは2020年、コロナ禍で始まりました。
作品を通して奥大和の雄大な自然を体感するために、最長5時間かけて歩く芸術祭を開催し、当時大きな打撃をうけていた奥大和の観光に一石を投じることができました。

過去2年間に参加したアーティストたちは会期終了後も地域の皆さんとさらなる交流を深め、会場となったエリアではMIND TRAILや来場者を含めてサポートする体制が新たに生まれようとしています。これはMIND TRAILが人との会話、自分との会話、環境との会話、地域との会話など、対話することから派生している現象です。

2022年のMIND TRAILは、この2年間で多くの方との対話から生まれた繋がりを改めて考えるために、テーマを ”Conversation（対話）”として開催いたします。
奥大和で様々な連携が起こり、言葉・声・心の声など多くの対話が生まれるような新しい試みを行っていきたいと考えています。

MIND TRAILの役割が、大きく変わろうとしています。
観光誘致、観光資源の再発見のためだけではなく、奥大和という地域をデザインするケースの一つとしても、多くの方々に体験していただければと思います。
そしてこれまでと変わらず、素晴らしいアーティストたちの作品、地域の方々とのかけがえのない交流、膨大なエネルギーを孕んだ奥大和の大自然と地域の皆さんがもつ叡智に、訪れた方は必ずパワーを得られることでしょう。

MIND TRAIL started in 2020, in midst of Covid-19. This explorative-style art festival, in which some participants may take up to 5-hour walk, was intended to have people feel the big nature of Okuyamato through looking artwork that are exhibited in the course. The event casted a stream of light to the tourism of Okuyamato that was suffering from the damage of Covid-19 at the time.

Artists who have participated in the festival for the past two years are engaged in good friendship with the people in this community even after the event. Now, with the help of visitors and people who have participated in the event, a new supporting scheme is beginning to emerge in this area centering around where MIND TRAIL was held. This is a positive development coming out of the fact that MIND TRAIL evoked so many conversations among people involved in the event: whether it's a dialog with one' self; or conversations with people in the community; or even talking with the environment.

The theme of MIND TRAIL for 2022 is “Conversation”. The underlining intention is to rethink about the connections and rapport that abounded in conversations over the course of past two years. This event will further explore new idea to deepen the collaboration in Okuyamato, and elicit conversations that use words, voices or inner voices.

Now, the role of MIND TRAIL is about to change dramatically. We hope to have more people experiencing this as a case in which how an art event can design a community district, such as Okuyamato, beyond mere tourist attraction and tapping new source of tourism.
As the event has done so in the past, MIND TRAIL will certainly provide vitality to visitors through looking at fine arts created by talented artists, and having friendly relationship with the local people and getting in touch with their wisdoms, as well as from the enormous amount of energy conceived in the vast nature of Okuyamato.
